A Taking Part Project from Young Vic Theatre

May Fest

Thursday 9th – Thursday 16th May 2024

May Fest returns in 2024! Created by the Young Vic’s Neighbourhood Theatre Company, May Fest will take over the theatre with a week of workshops, events and experiences programmed for our local community. As the year turns from winter to spring, May Fest will celebrate the start of the new season with joy, laughter and creativity.

Free tickets for May Fest will be distributed to community networks in Lambeth and Southwark.

Intro to directing workshop by Taio Lawson - Tue 7 May, 6-8pm
A workshop for Neighbourhood Theatre Company members to learn and dissect the fundamental practice of directing for stage.

Spin the wheel - Thu 9 May, 6:30-9:30pm A gameshow for family and friends of the Neighbourhood Theatre Company members.

The Collective recruitment workshop - Sat 11 May, 11am-4pm
The Collective recruitment workshop - Mon 13 May, 6-9:30pm A recruitment workshop for Neighbourhood Theatre Company members who are interested in being a part of the new Neighbourhood Theatre Project.

Play in a day Performance - Tue 14 May, 7-8pm
A full day experience creating a play from scratch with a group of Neighbourhood Theatre Company members, including a sharing performance of the work created at the end of the process.

Variety night - Wed 15 May, 6:30-9:30pm
A night of a range of performances from the Neighbourhood Theatre Company including poetry, music, dance and sketch performances.

The finale - Thu 16 May, 6:30-10pm
The closing party which will be themed around the season of spring including Karaoke, a live DJ and the two most important P’s: Pizza & Prosecco.

Founded in 2016, Neighbourhood Theatre company works with locals from our home boroughs Lambeth & Southwark with opportunities to engage in theatre and take part in creative programmes.
